WALT multiply

Today in class Room 8 worked very hard. They had to learn, and use many new chromebook skills. Room 8 is learning to multiply by first skip counting then using repeated addition. They enjoyed this so much, that when the lunchtime bell rang,  everybody sighed because they wanted to carry on with their maths. Please enjoy their work. Their perseverance was amazing!

Do you like eating vegetables?

Tēnā koutou katoa.

Every Thursday we are doing a program called ‘Garden To Table’ (GTT). We work in the garden growing vegetables, planting seedlings, sowing seed and other general gardening work. We then harvest and cook the vegetables and make scrummy food. Here is some of our work from week 1.

Do you have any questions about the GTT program?

Bugs and Predators

Over the last three weeks, Rooms 1 and 3 combined to do a unit on Bugs and Predators, led by Dr Emily from the Taranaki Regional Council. The following movie shows the activities which we all took part in. The initial activity was learning about the features of insects, arachnids (spiders) and other creepy crawlies. We then learnt to classify bugs according to their special features. Next we all took part in a bug hunt within the school grounds. Each bug that was found was photographed, identified and loaded up to the inaturalist site. Detailed observational drawings were then completed. We then set up tracking tunnels to determine what predators and pests are moving through our school gardens. The grand finale was a visit to Pukeiti where we went on a bug hunt, had a picnic and did lots of other fun activities. A huge thank you to Dr Emily, Richard and whānau who offered their time to assist; we couldn’t have done it without you.
